Before we look deep into it, let me show you different wear form of CBN inserts you may encounter. There are crater wear, deformation, flank wear, chipping, and PCBN cracked sepreately.

Regarding Crater wear 

Either your workpieces hardness is too soft or your cutting speed is too fast.

As for Deformation

Your feeding is too much, or your cutting speed is too fast. Please check accordingly.

When it comes to Flank wear

First check whether your cutting edge angle is too much, then check feeding, is it too much as well, last come to the cutting speed, see if it is too slow.

About Chipping

Poor rigidity of the system plus feed and cutting speed is too much or cutting tool edge fragility.

Concerning PCBN cracked

Consider your poor rigidity of the system, except for it, see if the impact is too much, check whether the PCBN layer is too thin, and the cutting tool edge fragility also affect it
